Welcon Electrical Engineer Jack Hales recently presented “Implications of Synchronous Generator Withdrawal Following Renewable Proliferation in South Australia” at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Power & Energy Society (PES) General Meeting (GM) for 2017 in Chicago, USA.
The IEEE PES GM is a premier power engineering conference which brings practicing power engineers and academics together from across the globe. Jack was required to attend the 2017 IEEE PES GM to present his paper so that it could be published in the proceedings of the conference.
In addition to presenting the paper, Jack took full advantage of all that the conference offered, attending tutorials on “Smart Inverters for Distributed Generators” and “Cybersecurity of the Transmission and Distribution System”, a panel presentation on “DC Grids: Technology Needs and Design Considerations”, a technical tour to the S&C Electric factory in Chicago, the Student/Industry/Faculty Luncheon and taking part in the student poster competition, for which he received an honourable mention.
Congratulations to Jack for being selected, what a great experience.
