Welcon is currently executing the Design, Supply & Installation of the electrical works associated with the Miriam Vale Water Treatment Plant, under contract with Stirloch Constructions.
This ageing asset is now being upgraded with modern technology. The control system is being upgraded utilising Clear SCADA and a full PLC interface for the tanks, motors & pumps. This whole of plant upgrade now includes remote communications via Miri radio to a central control facility at Gladstone Regional Council. This will enable remote monitoring of the WTP together with the existing network between Gladstone, Boyne & Calliope.
Completion is forecast for the end of 2016, enhancing current water quality to meet regulations while adding capacity and security of supply for local residents.
